ASIA PACIFIC GOLF SUMMIT IN KUALA LUMPUR - 26-28 OCTOBER 2009
This event, organised by Mike Sebastion, attracted a star-studded list of attendees including Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Peter Thompson. With over 500 key industry people from all over Asia, it was certainly worthwhile me being there.
John Pryor represented Hydrogold on the discussion panel:
"Water Management: A Golf Course's Lifeblood - Do It Wrong and Pay the Price"
All in all a great summit and I look forward to the one in Bangkok in 2010.
DISCOVERY BAY GOLF CLUB IN HONG KONG - 21 OCTOBER 2009
The Watertronics Irrigation Pump Station being installed overnight by the irrigation contractor, Refrigo.
After more than 2 years in the planning, Phase 1 of the irrigation renovation (changeover of the pump stations) is now completed. The installation of the remainder of the irrigation system (designed by Hydrogold) for this 27-hole golf course will take place over the next two years.
CONTRACTOR'S MEETING AT THE SAUJANA COUNTRY CLUB IN MALAYSIA - 25 JUNE 2009
On site meeting at the Saujana Country Club in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the tender of the irrigation system.
Present were the Contractors, Zainal Mohd Shah (J&J - eventually the successful Contractor), Simon Hii (Wastech Engineering), C.K. Tan (Irrigation Golf), Ted Parslow (the Golf Course Architect) and John Pryor (Irrigation Designer - Hydrogold).
GREEN DAY IN SINGAPORE - 9 JUNE 2009
This day-long seminar at the Laguna Golf & Country Club in Singapore. It was organised by David Chua of Christensen Irrigation who gathered 33 attendees representing all but 2 of the golf courses in Singapore.
John Pryor (of Hydrogold) presented two topics at the seminar: Soil Moisture Concepts and Computerised Central Controllers
Hydrogold is a strong advocate of industry education. Check out the wealth of information available at our "Education Centre" (see above).
JOHNNY WALKER CLASSIC IN PERTH, AUSTRALIA - 22 FEBRUARY 2009
John Pryor and his wife Erida Situmorang at the IMG-organised Johnny Walker Classic at the Vines Country.
Great win by (Korean-born) New Zealand amateur Danny Lee. As an amateur he was not eligble for the US$ 304,288 top prize. However, as the professionals received their cheques, he still asked humourously "Where is my cheque?".
Hydroscapes Australia (part of the Hydrogold group) designed the irrigation system for this golf course way back in 1987.
