DESARU GOLF COURSE - 25 OCTOBER 2010
Hydrogold has been appointed for the water management, irrigation design and overseeing of the installation of this 27-hole golf course in Johor, Malaysia. The existing golf course is being re-developed under the guidance of Greg Letsche and Thad bell of Ernie Els Design. The project management team is Peremba Development (John Ballantyne and Charanjeet Singh). This site visit was made before the start of construction to provide Hydrogold a better overview of the site before we start the irrigation design.
MARANGAROO PUBLIC GOLF COURSE - 2 SEPTEMBER 2010
Hydrogold designed the irrigation for the renovation in 2005 under the Golf Course Architect Michael Coate. Set in natural Australian bushland, I enjoy an early morning round of golf there occasionally. This morning the kangaroos were having some boxing practice on the side of the fairway.
GOODWOOD RESIDENCE (SINGAPORE) UNDERWAY - 14 MAY 2010
After a 2 year hiatus, the Goodwood Residence, a high-rise, high-end, green living environment in Singapore is underway. Hydrogold is employed by Malaysian tycoon Quek Leng Chan's Guocoland for the design of the irrigation system as well as overseeing the installation. Guocoland has also retained leading Singapore landscape architects ICN Design International (Henry Steed / Terrence Fernando / Josephine Gowty) for this project. The Main Contractor is Poh Lian Construction. Ecogen (Mike Sim) was the successful Irrigation Contractor with a package based on the Toro range of landscape products. Hydrogold's value to the Client was demonstrated by obtaining a good value package at a competetive price during the tender negotiations.
DISCOVERY BAY GOLF COURSE - LEEMCO TRAINING - 30 MARCH 2010
Nunzio Di Christopher of Leemco providing a training session on the Joint Restraint System being used on Discovery Bay Golf Club. Looking on are Terry Chan (long-time employee of Discovery Bay Golf Club) and John Pryor of Hydrogold (Irrigation Designers for the project). The Leemco Joint Restraint System was chosen for this site due to the many steep slopes where it would have been difficult to use the traditional thrust blocks. We also used the Leemco mainline tappings and valves. All Leemco products on this project come with a commendable 10-year warranty.
POINT WALTER PUBLIC GOLF COURSE 19 FEBRUARY 2010
This is a 9-hole public golf course in Perth, Western Australia. Location, location, location. Nestled between the Swan River, recreational areas and affluent suburbs, this is a gem of a public golf course.
Hydrogold was appointed by the Melville Shire Council to design the irrigation system. With a minimal budget of $ 250,000, we laid out a rudimentary 2-row block system. As an initiative to our Client (and at no exta cost to them), we also prepared an alterntive 3-row Valve in Head system with an alternative budget of $ 450,00. Already on a strict water quota, the Council accepted our arguments that the alternative offered much better control of water use over the 20-year (plus) projected life of the irrigation system.
Total Eden (Rick Giblett) won the project based on a Toro GDC system, the first to be installed in Western Australia.
